Emmanuel Olisadebe signs for Pompey

Pompey have made their first New Year swoop by securing the signing of Emmanuel Olisadebe until the end of the season.

Twenty-seven year old Olisadebe, a Polish striker with 25 international appearances, was born in Nigeria and joins Pompey after a two-day trial last month.

He has a proven record scoring goals for both Poland and club side Panathinaikos during a spell in Greece.

Olisadebe put pen to paper at Fratton Park late this afternoon.

"I am very happy to be joining Portsmouth and excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League, which for me is the best league in the world."

"I hope to play and do well for the team and it feels good to be back after my trial last month" he said.
